The Sounds of Violence

This first week of the final month, I was tasked with adding the various SFX for the current weapons in our game, which not only means the ones the player wields, but the enemies as well.

In previous weeks, there was only one weapon sound effect, and it only played when the player's weapon connected with the enemy. This was a good starting point as it gave feedback to the player that their weapon connected with the enemy, thus dealing damage to their target. With that, I was able to gather and meld sounds to produce the SFX for the other weapons in the game and just replace references to which sound would be played according to the weapon. I used freesounds.org to find most of the sounds, and used opengameart.org for the rest.

As I continue to introduce new sounds into the game to round out the life of the game, I will be using these sources along Audacity to produce sounds of a quality and tone fitting of our game.
